The next "Gen Nakamura Super Aquarium Night" event has been confirmed!

This is Terry Ueda. The next event of Karukaru's most popular event, "Gen Nakamura's Super Aquarium Night," will be on Sunday, October 20th. And there are only 3 more events left until the full 50th event of Super Aquarium Night!

Nakamura: That's right, three more episodes! Actually, I was thinking of doing a solo talk without any guests for the final episode.

Terry: Oh? We asked Matsushima Tomoko to be our guest 50 times, right?

Nakamura: I recently asked them to change it to episode 49. In other words, the guest for episode 48 is the last one other than Tomoko-san, so I was really selfish and chose someone I've wanted to talk to for a long time. The then director of Asahiyama Zoo, Kosuge, who revived it!

Terry: Oh! I know him too! He was in Project X!

Nakamura: Yes, that's the man who played a key role! He revived a poor zoo, which had seen a sharp decline in visitors, to number one in Japan with his "behavioral exhibits." Doesn't that have something in common with me, who revived a poor aquarium with my "water mass exhibits"? That's why I've always wanted to meet and talk with him.

Terry: But Nakamura-san wasn't in Project X, so you didn't get to meet him?

Nakamura: Shut up! Well, there is that kind of disparity (laughs), but exactly one year ago we finally met and talked for about two hours. It was so much fun.

Terry: That shouldn't be just for you to enjoy, Nakamura-san. We'd like to hear it too.

Nakamura: Right? How did it become the number one zoo in Japan? How did they create the "behavioral exhibits?" And more than anything, at the end of this Super Water Night, I want to discuss with Mr. Kosuge the question, "What purpose do zoos and aquariums serve?"

Terry: I see, so the theme is "The Mission of Zoos and Aquariums." I'm looking forward to it!

The last three of Nakamura Gen's Super Aquarium Night 2024 Autumn will be a showdown between the main figure behind the zoo's revival and the producer behind the aquarium's revival! Don't miss it! And it's sure to sell out again this time. Tickets will go on sale from 10:00 a.m. on September 20th.

<Second Part Guest>
●Masao Kosuge
Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido in 1948, he was the former director of Asahiyama Zoo, which restored Japan's northernmost zoo to the number one spot in visitor numbers in Japan. After joining Asahiyama Zoo, he served as head zookeeper, deputy director, and other positions before becoming the zoo's director in 1995. When he first became director, visitor numbers were at rock bottom and Asahiyama Zoo was in danger of closing, but based on his ideal zoo concept, he completely revamped the zoo's image with features such as the seal "Marine Way" and the underwater tunnel "Penguin House." He has grown Japan's northernmost small zoo into one of the most visited zoos in the country, achieving the highest monthly visitor numbers in Japan. He is currently in charge of Maruyama Zoo as an advisor to the city of Sapporo. He has written numerous books, including "The Asahiyama Zoo Revolution" and "What is the Meaning of Life?"
