The Laos Festival 2025, an outdoor event that allows visitors to experience Laotian culture and cuisine, will be held for two days on May 24th (Sat) and 25th (Sun) at Yoyogi Park Event Square.

The festival, which has the concept of "Laos you can visit in a day", began in 2007 with the aim of deepening friendly relations between Japan and Laos. The number of visitors has increased every year, and it is now the largest Laos-related event in Japan. As 2025 marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Laos, a variety of events are planned this year as part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs-certified "70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and Laos" certification project.

The venue will be comprised of food and drink booths, merchandise booths and a stage, where you can enjoy traditional Laotian culture, music, dance and gourmet food for two days. At the food and drink booths, you can taste Laos' representative beer "Beer Lao" and authentic Laotian cuisine. There will also be Laotian goods for sale and a traditional good luck ceremony called "Basi".

The stage will feature Lao dance, traditional musical instruments, and performances by Lao and Japanese artists. There will also be a full range of programs that visitors can participate in and experience, such as Lao language classes and dance lectures, allowing visitors to feel closer to Lao culture.

Aiming to be the "cleanest festival in Japan," the festival is also focusing on environmental beautification activities. In addition to cleaning activities mainly by high school and university students, eco-stations have been set up within the venue to promote waste separation and recycling.

There will also be a fluffy area for children and a festival day, and other activities the whole family can enjoy, making this a festival that can be enjoyed by a wide range of people, from adults to children.
