The annual spring Shibuya Sakura Festival 2025 began on Friday, March 28th at the Shibuya Sakura Stage and Sakurazaka complex in Sakuragaokacho, Shibuya.

This event will be held in conjunction with the full bloom of the cherry blossom trees along Sakurazaka in Sakuragaokacho, Shibuya, a famous cherry blossom viewing spot. In cooperation with the local community, the event has become a seasonal event in Shibuya celebrating the arrival of spring through lighting up the cherry blossom trees and a variety of events.

Shibuya Sakura Stage, which is scheduled to fully open in 2024, will have four event spaces: BLOOM GATE, Nigiwai STAGE, Hagukumi STAGE, and Sakuragaoka Hiroba. Live performances and gourmet events will be held there from March 28 to April 6. In addition, each tenant store will be selling spring-only products.

At Sakurazaka, a famous cherry blossom viewing spot adjacent to Shibuya Sakura Stage, the cherry blossom trees will be lit up starting Friday, March 28th. It's nice to stroll through the cherry blossom arch that envelops the slope during the day, but the fantastical illumination of the cherry blossoms at night is also attractive. If you visit at different times, the same cherry blossom trees will look completely different.

Many lanterns are lined up, making it a popular photo spot for foreign tourists.

You can also enjoy the pink lanterns at Sakuragaoka Hiroba on the second floor of Shibuya Sakura Stage. The cherry blossoms will be lit up every day from 6pm to 9pm until Friday, April 4th, and the lanterns will be set up until Sunday, April 6th.

The Sansan Awa Odori, which was well-received at the opening event last year, will be held at BLOOM GATE on Tuesday, April 1st and Wednesday, April 2nd. The Koenji joint group, known as one of the three major Awa Odori dances in Japan, will perform a magnificent dance.

The music event "Shibuya Sakura Festival LIVE Produced by YAMAHA SOUND CROSSING SHIBUYA×Eggs" will be held for three days from Friday, March 28th, with a total of 19 up-and-coming artists performing live at Yamaha's brand hub "Yamaha Sound Crossing Shibuya (YSC Shibuya)," livening up Shibuya's spring with music. No reservations are required and it's free to enjoy, which is also an attractive feature.

Furthermore, "SHIBUYA SAKURA GARAGE SIDE-B SPRING EDITION" is an event where you can experience culture through music, markets and workshops at BLOOM GATE for three days from April 4th (Fri) to 6th (Sun). In addition to live performances by artists from the domestic and international indie scene, DJ sets, art, miscellaneous goods and record markets, you can enjoy carefully selected coffee and beer while enjoying music and spring in Shibuya.

Also worth checking out is the gourmet event "Sakura Bread Festival 2025" to be held next weekend. It will bring together 17 popular bakeries from Japan and abroad, carefully selected by Hiroaki Ikeda, the owner of the bread research institute "Pan Labo". It will be held for two days, on Saturday, April 5th and Sunday, April 6th, at the "Nigiwai STAGE". The theme of the day, the 6th, will be "SHIBUYA SOURDOUGH TOWN", and there will be a variety of unique bakeries, including a specialty store that makes its own sourdough bread from scratch. We recommend picking up some delicious bread and enjoying the cherry blossom viewing.
