Ayumi Uesaka is a poet and writer who has attracted much attention from readers of all ages, having made a stunning debut with her collection of poems, "I Want to Be Popular So Much I'll Die in a Nursing Home" (Shoshi Kankanbo), and whose first collection of essays, "Don't Write Earth as Star (hereafter referred to as "#ChikyuHoshi")" (Bungeishunju), has been reprinted a year after its release.

On Wednesday, November 26th, the first anniversary of the publication of "#ChikyuHoshi," Uesaka's close friends, poet Maho Okamoto and multi-talented talent Pointy Saeki, will gather in Shibuya.

Daily work, health, relationships, and the joys and pains of creativity.

How will these three people, who have lived their lives relying on words despite the harsh reality, survive in this era?

With the keywords "frankness x survival strategy," we will engage in honest talk that you can only hear here.

Furthermore, the three artists, who have developed their own unique styles of expression, will introduce the book that changed the way they see the world, which was the starting point of their creative endeavors. Through the act of reading that lies behind their creations, we will trace the roots of their thinking.

I can't rest properly, I'm not getting rewarded, but I can't quit.

For those who still choose to create despite this reality.

We bring you real words to help you survive these chaotic times, right here in Shibuya.

On the day, each speaker's book and related goods will be on sale, and there will also be a signing session.

After the talk, there will be time to communicate directly with the speakers.

■Author's comment (excerpt from the "Afterword")

I always wondered why school didn't teach me the truth. Why did I have to solve for the value of x now? Why did the room freeze for a moment when I spoke up? Why was I born into this family in this part of the world? No one could give me real answers to those questions.

It took me nearly 30 years to get a general understanding of how the world and society work, and how to survive based on my own nature. It was a long time. If only I had learned these things in school, I wouldn't have had to worry so much. So in this book I've written about a lot of things that I wish I had known back then, things that aren't taught in school.

What I always wanted to know back then wasn't "how to improve my school grades," "how to earn 10 million yen a year," or "how to become a beautiful and lovable person," but "how to somehow survive in this terrible world."
