We will be visiting the exhibition "Iwai Toshio x Tokyo Photographic Art Museum: 100 Story House of Light and Movement - Connecting 19th Century Video Devices and Media Art" at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum.
The museum is open later than usual due to the Summer Night Museum Event. There is also a group discount on admission for everyone.
<Overview>
The author of the popular picture book "The House of 100 Stories," Iwai Toshio, is also one of Japan's leading media artists. Iwai has had a strong interest in animation since he was a child, and established his own unique media art with his "Time Layer" series, which evolved flip books and surprise boards using modern technology. This exhibition connects Iwai's media art with the 19th century video devices that are the origin of it, and reveals the fascinating visual experiences created by light and movement, as well as the insatiable spirit of inquiry of the scientists and artists who created them.
