Source: Peatix
The Tokyo Fake Documentary Film Festival was launched in 2020 to explore further possibilities in visual art.
We have screened fictional feature films shot in a documentary style, as well as footage that combines fact and fiction.
This will be the fourth time the event is being held, and seven short films will be screened.
Even though they are all called "fake documentaries," the styles vary from comedy to experimental footage.
A three-hour journey between reality and fiction!

Films
Satoyama Treasure Nostalgia
Director: Suzuki Gomorra
Satomaki's job is to "manage adult magazines that have been abandoned in Satoyama." He has a career spanning 20 years. How does he view his job as the number of magazines published declines? His passion, which will never fade even as times change, overflows from the screen.
Visitors during delivery test
Director: Natsumi Ikedo and Hou Shiga
Three young people are preparing to broadcast an online program. Suddenly, the doorbell rings, a mysterious voice is heard, and a thunderous knock begins to sound on the front door. The young people cover their ears in fear. One of them grabs a camera and heads to the front door, but...
Talk event after screening of "Fumika's Dream Diary"
Director: Koichi Yamashina
Recorded footage of a stage greeting for a new movie. The director, actors, and audience all talk about one film. What was the dream that the main character, Fumika, had during the film? The accumulation of each person's words gives shape to a film that we have yet to see.
Factory Retirees
Director: Ryo Haruhara
A record of an interview at a certain factory. A veteran craftsman says, "Our strength is teamwork," but there seem to be various problems... The interview, which began in a lively atmosphere, takes an unexpected turn when an incident breaks out. And so arrives the despair and hope of one young craftsman.
Do not use the dragon
Director: Ao Nukumaru
A self-documentary by a woman who calls herself "Tanaka." Tanaka enters an old apartment surrounded by trees and carefully scrubs the dirty walls with a toothbrush, trying to purify them of evil. Through Tanaka's "selfies," we come into contact with her life and inner thoughts.
Movie, K's Case
Director: Tomoki Kanamaru
The protagonist sits down at his desk in his room and begins to draw a picture of a "movie" on paper. The camera continues to film him, and the picture becomes more colorful. Eventually, a different image appears on the screen, and a transformation begins. This is a record of the protagonist questioning "movie" in a world overflowing with images.
Asano, Peace and Rain
Director: Keita Ito
It's the end of the Heisei era. The protagonist meets an old friend for the first time in a long time and learns that the elementary school he graduated from is closing. The loss is healed precisely because they talk in front of the camera. Even in a changing society, there are surely unchanging happinesses. If there is peace, the era name doesn't matter.
