"Fiesta de España" at Yoyogi Park: Authentic Spanish enthusiasm and culture come together
The famous "large pot paella"
2025-11-11
Fiesta de España 2025, a festival where you can experience Spanish food and culture, will be held at Yoyogi Park Event Square for two days on November 15th and 16th. The event is organized by the Fiesta de España Executive Committee.
The event, which began in 2013 to commemorate 400 years of exchanges between Japan and Spain, is now in its 12th year. It has become one of Japan's largest Spanish festivals, attracting approximately 100,000 visitors every year, and this year's theme is "A space where you can experience authentic Spain while in Japan," and will convey the charm of Spain through food, music, dance, and sports.

The venue will feature a wide selection of Spanish dishes, including the famous "Onabe Paella." Cooked in a giant pot over two meters in diameter and supervised by the Japan Paella Association, the paella is a popular menu item that always draws long lines. On the 15th, "Seafood Paella" will be served from 11:30, followed by "Chicken Paella" from 2:30. On the 16th, the order will be reversed, with paellas priced at 1,300 yen each. There will also be a wide selection of drinks, including wine, craft beer, and sherry, and the venue will be bustling with visitors enjoying toasting from midday.

A diverse program will be held on the main stage throughout both days. Following on from last year, the "Sevillanas Contest," a flamenco festival that brings together talented performers, will be held again this year, with performances by last year's winners, "Shunkashuto Bonbon Sisters," and runner-up, "Seisen Women's University Flamenco Club Las Majas." On the final day, all performers will gather together for the "Special Flamenco Stage - Flamenco Night Fiesta," where they will envelop the venue in passionate dancing.
Also scheduled to be performed on stage will be the traditional Spanish musical theatre "Zarzuela," a storytelling performance introducing Japanese and Spanish culture, and a football talk event by the official La Liga fan club. The event will be structured to allow visitors to experience the multi-layered appeal of Spanish culture.
On the 16th, there will also be a program showcasing the achievements of Hasekura Tsunenaga, who opened diplomatic relations with Spain in the early Edo period. The Hasekura Tsunenaga Japan-Spain Cultural Association, a general incorporated association, will participate for the first time, and will perform a concert to pray for the restoration of the area, "HASEKURA," on stage. A collaboration of Japanese drums, guitar, and flamenco will deliver a soulful sound that transcends national borders.

In addition, there will be many experiential activities for the audience to enjoy, such as "Flamenco Futuro 2025" by the National Student Flamenco Federation and the Japan Flamenco Association, performances of Spanish guitar and zarzuela, and open-participation dance events.
Additionally, a joint event, "Santa Parade Tokyo 2025," will be held on the 16th. This is a charity event in which participants dressed as Santa Claus will parade around the Yoyogi area, with a portion of the participation fee donated as Christmas presents for children battling illnesses.
The event will be held from 10:00 to 20:00 on the 15th and from 10:00 to 19:00 on the 16th. The event will be held rain or shine (cancelled in case of severe weather). Admission is free.
