The annual "Namaste India 2024" will be held, featuring Indian movie dance, classical dance, and gourmet food
A festival where you can experience the whole of India
2024-09-25
The Indian festival "Namaste India 2024" will be held at Yoyogi Park Event Square on September 28th and 29th, 2024.
This event started in 1993 with the aim of promoting international cultural exchange between India and Japan. Originally held at Tsukiji Honganji Temple as its main venue, it moved to Yoyogi Park in 2005 and expanded its content. It was forced to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but was revived last year and will mark its 29th anniversary. This year, as in previous years, the event aims to be a fulfilling cultural event where you can experience India in its entirety, and to create an event where you can "enjoyably experience the diverse Indian culture" including knowledge, clothing, food, culture, and economics.
The venue will consist of a stage and booths for food, merchandise, sightseeing, etc. On the stage, in addition to the colorful and comical movie dance that is the main feature of Indian movies, a variety of Indian music and dance will be performed over the two days, including the seven major Indian classical dances such as Bharatanatyam, North Indian classical music and dance such as the sitar, South Indian classical music and dance such as the veena, and folk music.

The food and drink booths offer authentic Indian and vegetarian dishes, such as naan baked in a tandoor oven, chicken curry, and saag paneer. There is also a tea corner, chai, Indian beer, wine, and a wide selection of sweet Indian desserts.

The sales booths are lined with products unique to India, such as saris, accessories, and other fashion items, spices and spice cases essential for making authentic Indian cuisine, traditional brass and dhokra ornaments, etc. In addition, there are experience corners for wearing saris, yoga, Ayurveda, mehendi (art of painting hands and feet with henna), Indian astrology, an India-related book fair, and information on tourism and travel is available.
As the heat finally subsides and the autumn atmosphere takes hold in Yoyogi Park, why not come and discover the new charms of India?
