Shibuya Mottainai Market will hold a food waste reduction event in line with October's "Food Loss Reduction Month."
This event calls on local residents to promote the 3Rs, with a focus on reducing food waste.


This year, there will be a large collection of workshops where you can learn about the global environment and the 3Rs in a fun way!
A workshop for parents and children will be held at the Shibuya Cultural Center, focusing on the themes of mottainai (wastefulness) and the 3Rs.

[WS2] ITO EN Sustainability Initiatives: Discover the Eco-Friendliness of Tea.

Toward the realization of a resource-circulating society, ITO EN is working on horizontal recycling of PET bottles and recycling of "used tea leaves" generated during the manufacturing process. In this workshop, we will introduce in an easy-to-understand manner how to utilize used tea leaves and PET bottle recycling that can be put into practice at home.

You can learn things like this!

■How to make delicious tea → You can make it well at home!
■Tea leaf transformation technique → Tea leaves that you've finished drinking can be transformed into something amazing!
■Every time you use a plastic bottle → Where do the bottles go after you finish drinking them?

Make your own original fan using paper made from used tea leaves (coloring workshop)
Create your own cool fan by coloring the original Ito En character, "Oi Ocha-kun"!

The Kewpie Group's business activities are made possible by the bounty of nature, including raw materials.
Additionally, as a food manufacturer that utilizes limited food resources, we recognize our important responsibility to reduce food waste and make effective use of resources.
Among the initiatives we have undertaken so far, we will introduce the effective use of eggs and vegetables, and the upcycling of vegetables and fruits.

[WS4] Mottainai Parent-Child Cooking Class <Mottainai Nuggets>

Ingredients that are left over and cannot be used up, or parts that tend to be thrown away, such as vegetable cores
Transform leftover ingredients that tend to be wasted at home into delicious dishes!
This time we will make Mottainai nuggets using Ziploc® bags.
This is a cooking class that parents and children can attend to help them eat all the food they need without waste.

An eco-friendly candle made from used vegetable cooking oil from homes and restaurants that is safe to touch.
Create your own candle using colorful candle parts.
It doesn't use fire, so it's safe for small children and can be enjoyed by both adults and children.

[WS6] Create a one-of-a-kind piece of art using new materials made from food waste!

A special art experience using a new material made from food waste, developed by fabula, a startup from the University of Tokyo.
We create one-of-a-kind pieces using free-spirited ideas, not limited to brooches and key chains.
In addition to the fun of creating your own work, by actually touching and using the materials, you can experience the unique texture, scent, and story behind the fabula materials.
This program also provides an opportunity to think about a familiar social issue, "how to utilize unused resources," through manufacturing.

1. Purchase tickets for the number of participants on Peatix
Please read the notes on participation application before applying for tickets.
Registration for each workshop will close once capacity has been reached.

2. Registration on the day of the event
Please check in at the venue at least 5 minutes before the workshop starts.

We also plan to have a limited number of tickets available on the day for workshops that require advance registration.
