An exhibition and sale of record and CD jacket works by graphic designer and artist Tadanori Yokoo, "The World of Tadanori Yokoo's Record Jackets - An Exhibition and Sale Where You Can Discover Them as Art Pieces," will be held from September 15th to 30th at Anjin on the second floor of Daikanyama T-Site Building No. 2.

This exhibition features over 100 carefully selected works by Yokoo that have been collected and studied over many years by FTF Co., Ltd., the company behind the vinyl record specialty store "Face Records." The exhibition includes many of Yokoo's masterpieces that combine music and art, including the 22-sided jacket for the album "Lotus Legend" (1974), which recorded Santana's first performance in Japan in 1973, "Singing the Opera Yokoo Tadanori" (1969), a collaboration with contemporary musician Satoshi Ichiyanagi, and "Hibotan Bakuto: The Tale of a Japanese Gangster Through the Shakuhachi" (1969), performed by shakuhachi player Minoru Muraoka.

Yokoo first attracted attention in the 1960s with his pop-psychedelic graphics, and in the 1970s he produced collage works imbued with spirituality and symbolism. From the 1980s onwards, he began to work fully as a painter. This exhibition allows visitors to see the evolution of his style through the jacket art.

Additionally, a special talk event titled "Tadanori Yokoo and the Appeal of Record Jackets" will be held on September 18th. Two Virgins editor-in-chief Eiji Asami, Fujiwara Printing's Keita Matsufusa, and FTF Chairman of the Board Shinichi Takei will be on stage to talk about the appeal of Yokoo's work and the significance of jacket art. Participation is free and no advance reservations are required.

As records are being reevaluated, this is a rare opportunity to see the jackets as art pieces that reflect the atmosphere of the times.
