The "Painting Exhibition: Artists from around the world who express themselves with their mouths and feet" will be held at SHIBUYA CAST "Space" along Meiji Dori from January 16th to 18th, 2026, showcasing the works of painters from around the world who continue to create using their mouths and feet despite losing the use of their hands.

The aim of this project is to deepen understanding of the possibilities of diverse expression and an inclusive society through the paintings of artists belonging to the "Mouth and Foot Painting Artists Association." This event has been held continuously since 1992 as a social contribution activity, and this year marks the 298th time it has been held. The total number of visitors to date is approximately 830,000.

Past events

The venue will exhibit 36 works by artists from 10 countries: Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Italy, Greece, Slovenia, Argentina, China, South Korea, and Japan. The exhibition will feature a wide range of works, from small pieces with delicate brushstrokes to large works measuring over one meter. The exhibits will be positioned at a uniform distance of approximately 1.35 meters from the floor to the center of the work, making them easy for wheelchair users and children to view.

During the event, on January 17th and 18th, there will also be a demonstration event by a painter who paints with his mouth. Umemiya Toshiaki will be in attendance on the 17th, and Furukoji Hironori on the 18th, and they will be demonstrating the process up close. This will be a rare opportunity to see the production process firsthand.

The exhibition aims to convey the power of expression that transcends disability through the appreciation of paintings, and to contribute to the realization of a society where everyone can live together. Admission is free. Open from 10:00 to 18:00 each day (until 17:00 on the final day).
