■ Towards the 3rd anniversary event
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

It took 30 years for the internet to become a part of social infrastructure. It was a time when people said things like, "Email is rude" and "Shopping online is unthinkable" - but now it's something that everyone uses as a matter of course.

Blockchain is an evolution of the Internet. "Owning your own information" - it's a commonplace concept, but in the world of the Internet, this has not been realized.

It will be three years since the start of classes in March 2023. Shibuya Web3 University has continued to strive to implement this technology in society.

This will be the 37th time the forum has been held, and will center around an interim report on the world's first DID/VC disaster prevention demonstration experiment currently being conducted in Iizuka City, the first city in Japan to declare its commitment to promoting blockchain. The event will bring together Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Digital Affairs, local governments, disaster prevention experts, and companies supporting the technology infrastructure.

The issues that emerge here are not unique to Iizuka City. They are anticipatory questions that Japan and the world will inevitably face in the future.

Rather than waiting for the future, we will create it. What will be "common sense" five years from now will begin in Iizuka City. Let's witness this challenge together.

■ What is the Iizuka City DID/VC Disaster Prevention Demonstration Experiment?

This project was selected as a support project for Iizuka City's Advanced Information Technology Demonstration Experiment in 2025. It is a world first, a Japan first, and a local government first—a first in the world, a first in Japan, and a first for a local government—and aims to create a society where "no one is left behind" by combining disaster prevention with DID/VC. The certificate obtained while learning about disaster prevention serves as evacuation shelter certification in the event of a disaster. "One certificate, two values" that connects peacetime and emergencies.
