"PARCO GAME CENTER" held at Shibuya PARCO Nostalgic retro games

"HARD OFF Phantom Shibuya Store" also opens for a limited time

PARCO GAME CENTER (PGC), a limited-time project produced by Parco's game label, PARCO GAMES, began on February 6th at PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO, a gallery space on the 4th floor of Shibuya Parco.

This project is one of the event contents of "SHIBUYA GAMES WEEK 2026" (February 6th to 15th), an urban game festival set in the city of Shibuya. The venue will feature retro games such as home game consoles and arcade cabinet game machines from the 1980s, as well as game art, artist collaboration goods, apparel, music, and more, creating an experiential space that goes beyond the scope of a simple game center and also includes surrounding culture.

The overall spatial design was overseen by graphic designer KID ROSE, who has a track record of collaborating with international fashion brands. He teamed up with Donald Hisayama, a well-known art maker and collector editor, to create a space where fashion, art, and music interact with each other, starting from games.

Near the entrance to the venue, there will be an arcade game called "Pac-Man," which was released in 1980. During the development of Pac-Man, location tests were conducted in the game corner on the rooftop of Tokyu Bunka Kaikan (now Shibuya Hikarie), and Shibuya is also said to be the "birthplace of Pac-Man."

The venue also displays Space Invaders, a tabletop gaming machine that became a huge hit in coffee shops in the late 1970s. At the time, colored cellophane was pasted on the black-and-white cathode ray tube screen to simulate a color display.

1980年代に米General Consumer Electronicsが発売したブラウン管内蔵の家庭用ゲーム機「Vectrex」や、「アルカディア」など、往年のレトロゲーム機も並び、いずれも無料で遊ぶことができる。

"Street Fighter II" was popular in game centers in the 1990s.

Additionally, there will be an exhibition called "GameRun!" (some parts will be playable) centered around the collection of retro game researcher Shinichiro Yoshida, and a limited-time "Phantom Shibuya Store" by reuse shop "HARD OFF". During the period, Yoshida and HARD OFF will jointly develop a lab project, providing content that allows you to "know, see, and buy" all in one experience, including explanations of the history of retro games, displays of valuable collections, and sales of related products.

Other exhibits include a glass mouse pad created in collaboration with a Japanese artist by Danish gaming device brand WALLHACK, creator m7kenji who creates games using pixel art, an exhibition of homemade game cabinets by manga artist Nishijima Daisuke, JOINT GALLERY, which brings together multiple artists, SINDENKI, which creates works using upcycled electronic components, and HOME ECONOMICS EXPERIMENT, an art unit that reinterprets memories of game centers in a modern way.

The game label "PARCO GAMES" was born from the game business specialist team established by PARCO in 2023, and has been developing events, e-commerce, media, collaborations, and more as the "Game Business Development Department" since September 2024. Utilizing the unique discerning eye and creativity cultivated in the fields of fashion, art, and entertainment, the label is involved in a wide range of activities, from offline events to publishing and development support, all within the PARCO commercial facility. The "PARCO GAME CENTER" is an attempt to embody this philosophy in a "real-world space."
