Our foundation regularly holds seminars aimed at "promoting public understanding of the environment through the provision of quality environmental education." For each seminar, we invite a well-known lecturer to give a wide-ranging talk on the environment from his or her own perspective.

For this lecture, we will invite Professor Emeritus Takeshi Yoroi of the University of Tokyo to speak about the environment from his unique perspective in a talk entitled "The Barriers of Environmental Issues, Part 2."

Takeshi Yoroi (Professor Emeritus, University of Tokyo)

Born in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture in 1937 (Showa 12)
1962 (Showa 37) Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tokyo
After a year of internship, he joined the anatomy department.
After that, he specialized in anatomy.
1967 (Showa 42): Obtained Doctor of Medicine
1981 (Showa 56) Became professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tokyo
Concurrently serves as Director of the University of Tokyo Archives and President of the University of Tokyo Press
1995 (Heisei 7) Retired from the University of Tokyo
1996 (Heisei 8) Appointed professor at Kitasato University (Graduate School of Medical and Human Sciences)
1998 (Heisei 10) Professor Emeritus, University of Tokyo
2003 (Heisei 15) Retired from Kitasato University

1989 (Heisei 1): Received the Suntory Prize for Social Sciences and Humanities for "How to See the Body" (Chikuma Shobo)
2003 (Heisei 15): Received the Mainichi Publishing Culture Award for "The Wall of Fools" (Shinchosha)
2006: Appointed director of the Kyoto International Manga Museum
2015 (Heisei 27): Received the Kanagawa Culture Award
2017 (Heisei 29): Retired as director of the Kyoto International Manga Museum
2017: Appointed Honorary Director of the Kyoto International Manga Museum
