The talk and presentation event "Carpe diem = Seize the Now VOL.34," hosted by the Japan Interdisciplinary Design Forum (JIDF), a general incorporated association that builds a network of experts across genres including art, design, architecture, science, literature, food, and music, will be held at LOFT9 Shibuya in Shibuya on Friday, May 16, 2025.

Carpe diem was launched in 2016 as a forum for people active at the forefront of various fields to talk about "now" for 20 minutes each, based on the concept of "finding the greatest value in the present moment." It has been held continuously since then, aiming to create a space where speakers and audiences can share "this moment" and empathize with each other.

This will be the 34th time the event has been held, and four speakers will be brain scientist Kenichiro Mogi, urban producer and Aoyama Gakuin University professor emeritus Norio Iguchi, fashion designer Kosuke Tsumura, and lighting designer Akari Ishii-Lisa. Based on the knowledge and perspectives they have cultivated in their respective fields of expertise, they will deliver special talks that can only be heard here.

Since 2013, JIDF has hosted the "INTER-DESIGN FORUM TOKYO," providing a forum for dialogue to consider the future of society and culture with themes such as "Provocative Design" (2014) and "Edo and the Future as Seen through the Edo Period" (2015). Since 2016, the event "Carpe diem = Seize the Present" has been fully launched. Furthermore, in 2018, the "JIDF Student Cultural Design Award" was established, continuing to support young people who will lead the next generation.

Under the message "Seize the moment," the Shibuya night will be spent listening to four experts talk about the "present" and "future."
