The first theme was "What does it mean to not be able to work? What does it mean to work?"
2025-07-01
Social farms are workplaces where people with various difficulties can work with peace of mind. A workshop that touches on the idea and practice of social farms, "Creating a society where everyone can work: Workshop 2025 to learn about, think about, and take action on social farms," will be held on Tuesday, July 8th at Shibuya Hikarie 8th floor creative space "8/COURT."
This workshop will begin in 2023, and will be in its third year this year. Through questions such as what is a social farm, what kind of people work there, and what kind of ideas and awareness the employers have, we will explore together with the participants what kind of society can be created where everyone can work prosperously.
The first session will be themed on "What does it mean to not be able to work? What does it mean to work?", with editor and design researcher Nobuko Shimuta as the facilitator and Professor Takeo Kondo of the University of Tokyo's Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology as the navigator, and a session with guest experts. The guest for this session will be Koji Ino, who serves as the social collaboration business manager at the certified non-profit organization Ikuteage Net, and promotes youth employment support and collaboration with companies.
On the day, the event will look back on the content of previous workshops, such as the basic structure of social farms and the perspectives of the people who actually work there and those who employ them, and will include dialogue between speakers and exchanges of opinions between participants.
The workshop is scheduled to be held four times in total, with the second one expected to be held after September. It will be a new learning opportunity for those who are experiencing social farms for the first time, as well as those who have participated in the past. Please bring writing utensils and use this as a space for everyone to think about "work."
