Shibuya Zunchaka music festival celebrates its 10th anniversary with eight stages including Dogenzaka and Miyashita Park

There is also a "free performance area" where anyone can participate.

The 10th Shibuya Zunchaka! music festival, based on the concept of a "one-day music liberation zone," will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at locations including Dogenzaka, Jinnan Elementary School, Miyashita Park, and Cat Street.

Shibuya, a city that continues to produce diverse cultures as a source of music and fashion. The festival, which began in 2015, is a music festival "for the people, by the people, and of the people," providing a place for everyone to enjoy music freely and proposing a new form of community for the city that turns diversity into strength.

For this festival, 79 artists selected from public entries will perform on a total of eight stages in Shibuya, including Dogenzaka, Shibuya Center Street, Jinnan Elementary School, Miyashita Park, and Cat Street. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the festival, and a "Truck Stage" will be installed in Dogenzaka, along with a new lottery-based free performance area called the "Dogenzaka Street Musician Liberation Zone." This is a unique attempt in which anyone can bring their own instruments or equipment and enjoy improvisation in this area from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm. It is expected to be even more exciting than previous years.

In addition, Jinnan Elementary School will be holding a program called "Blue Sky Moon," where high school students will be the main participants in expressing a fantasy world, and "Songs and Love Planetarium," where songs that have supported everyone will be played along with stories about them. At the entrance on the first floor of Miyashita Park, a street drum set will be set up for people to play freely, allowing people to try out imitating their favorite band members or enjoying playing drums in an unusual place, allowing even those who are not familiar with music to try out a variety of experiential music attractions in the city.

The festival's finale is the customary Zunchaka, with everyone gathering together. At 5pm, the stage in downtown Shibuya ends and everyone gathers at Miyashita Park's Lawn Square for a big performance of a mix of genres and instruments, with everyone participating, whether they're beginners or advanced, have an instrument or not. Even if you don't know the songs, can't play an instrument, sing or dance, be an adult or a child, this borderless feeling of anything goes is the greatest attraction of Zunchaka. What kind of finale will this year bring?

Why not pull out the musical instruments lying around your house and enjoy some music with your family, friends, and family? Experience a day where the town of Shibuya is enveloped in music.
