Earth Day Global Summit 2025 ~Think globally, act locally~

Acting with the Earth in Mind

Source: Peatix

This summit is organized by Earth Day Tokyo, which has been promoting awareness of environmental and social issues under the concept of "acting with the Earth in mind," and is aimed at networking environmental activist groups in Japan and abroad. The purpose is to support the activities of individuals and groups working on environmental and social issues in Japan by creating an opportunity for environmental groups, primarily NPOs and NGOs in Japan, to easily learn about and connect with the content and success stories of various social actions being carried out globally.

<Mission>

We aim to create an environment where environmental organizations such as NPOs and NGOs and individuals from all over Japan can connect with the world through evidence and online, maintain global connections even in the COVID-19 era, and regularly obtain high-quality learning and networking. By doing so, we aim to connect and deepen understanding between organizations both in Japan and overseas, and to plan projects that transcend organizational boundaries and implement them in society.

<Outline of Earth Day Global Summit 2025>

The theme of the Earth Day Global Summit, now in its third year, is "think globaly act localy." More than 4,000 people from over 100 countries participated in the 2021 Dubai Expo with the cooperation of the Swedish Pavilion and the United Nations, and the representative of Sweden's Hack for Earth Foundation, which is the organizer of the global hackathon "Hack for Earth," which was co-hosted with Ericsson at the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference "COP28," will visit Japan and hold a session on the efforts at the Osaka Expo and collaboration with Japan. In addition, a session titled "Unraveling the Future from Young People Active Around the World" will introduce the efforts of various countries to reflect the will of the younger generation in global decision-making. For the keynote speech, Japanese ecologist Koichi Goka, head of the Ecological Risk Assessment and Countermeasures Laboratory at the National Institute for Environmental Studies, will be invited to unravel hints for acting locally from the impact of invasive species on ecosystems.
