Fight climate change through food! Let's create the future from our dining tables!
The food we eat every day without even thinking about it, but did you know that it not only affects our health, but also the health of the planet (environmental issues)?

Our meals are provided by the food system, which has a significant impact on the global environment. In fact, about one-third of total greenhouse gas emissions are emitted in the process of producing food (from food production in the food system to processing, storage, distribution, sale, consumption, and waste in households). Unfortunately, this reality is not well recognized in Japan. We need not only to reduce food waste, but also to change our dietary choices (a major shift in food). And many countries around the world are facing climate change through our meals.
One approach to addressing this issue is the "Planetary Health Diet," which is currently attracting a lot of attention around the world. This dietary method aims to protect human health while being considerate of the global environment.

This Earthful Workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to learn about the impact that food has on our future and the planet, and to identify concrete actions to take.

The lecturer will be Yuko Teshima, co-founder of Earthful, who is working to raise awareness of the planetary health diet in Japan. Teshima translated the book that is the theme of this event, "Changing the Earth from the Dinner Table: The Food System that Connects You to the Future."

After the talk and workshop, there will be an optional hour for conversation and interaction.
I hope this will be an opportunity for people with similar interests to connect with each other.

| About the instructor

Yuko Teshima (Earthful Co-representative)
Born in Akashi City, Hyogo Prefecture. Registered dietitian. After working in a hospital and in Indonesia as a member of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers, she is currently working as a consultant on nutrition improvement projects in Asia and Africa. Since publishing the translation of "Changing the Earth from the Table" (Nihon Hyoronsha) in 2022, she has been promoting the Planetary Health Diet through lectures and workshops at universities and companies, reading groups, etc.
