The Japan Manhole Cover Awards are an award that puts the spotlight on manhole covers, which are important facilities but often inconspicuous, and recognizes these wonderful covers.
This will be the second time the event is being held, following last year's "Japan Manhole Cover Awards 2025".
This time, we'll be nominating new manhole covers installed between April and the end of March, in line with the fiscal year of each municipality, as well as covers selected based on a set theme. We'll also be nominating organizations and projects that have implemented various plans and events related to manhole covers. Multiple manhole enthusiasts will give presentations, and then the audience will vote.
There will be three awards for the second annual Manhole Cover Awards.
◎Newcomer Award: This award is for manhole covers installed between April 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026.
◎Theme Award: This year's theme is "Commemorative Manhole Covers," and we will be featuring and awarding manhole covers that commemorate various events and occasions.
◎Project Award: This award is for events and projects related to manhole covers that took place between April 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026.
In addition, we will be holding a new way to enjoy manhole cards, the "Manhole Card Game." Have fun with manhole covers to your heart's content!
