Shibuya's autumn colors are brought to life by the Konno Hachimangu Shrine Grand Festival, featuring a portable shrine procession in Dogenzaka and Aoyama, along with festival stalls and international cuisine.

Children's festival and limited edition "mascot character goshuin" (temple/shrine stamps) will also be available.

The Konno Hachimangu Shrine, which boasts a history of over 930 years as the guardian shrine of Aoyama and Shibuya, will hold its annual festival from Monday, September 14th to Sunday, September 20th. On Saturday, September 19th and Sunday, September 20th, a variety of events will be held as part of the "lively events," including a stage performance at the Kagura Hall, a children's festival, and a "Future Festival" featuring food trucks.

This annual festival is held to pray for a bountiful harvest and good health. The main festival ceremony will begin at 11:00 on the 14th, followed by the purification of the town association's sake hall and the consecration of the portable shrine in the afternoon of the 18th. On the 19th and 20th, the festival will be held in the shrine grounds, the adjacent children's park, and the parking lot next to the front of the shrine.

Traditional performing arts and pantomime can be seen at the Kagura Hall, and pony rides are available on the temple grounds.

On the 19th, the Kagura Hall will host a variety of performances, starting with the East Indian classical dance "Odissi" (11:00 AM), followed by Tai Chi demonstrations (12:00 PM), Japanese dance (1:00 PM), Shibuya folk tales (3:00 PM), demonstrations of Ohara-bushi, Shibuya Ondo, Shibuya-hatsu Hanya-bushi, and Yakumaru Nodachi Jigen-ryu (4:00 PM), chansons (5:00 PM), koto performances (6:00 PM), and pantomime (7:00 PM). In front of the shrine office on the grounds, there will also be pony rides and interactive exhibits at 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM.

From 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM on the 19th and 20th, a "Children's Festival" will be held mainly in the children's park. Traditional festival games such as goldfish scooping, yo-yo fishing, cotton candy, shooting games, caricature drawing, and kamishibai (picture storytelling) will be available. Local mascots will also make appearances at the venue. On the 19th, local mascots "Kumokkuru," "Kokupyon," and "Tanu" will participate, and on the 20th, "Mikoro" and "Tanu" will be there to interact with visitors.

11 food trucks gather, offering Taiwanese, Vietnamese, and Turkish cuisine.

The "Future Festival" will also be held in the parking lot next to the front of the shrine, from 11:00 to 21:00 on the 19th and 20th. This year, 11 food trucks will gather, offering a wide variety of dishes from various countries such as Taiwan, Vietnam, and Turkey, as well as steak, yakitori, pizza, and takoyaki.

The food stalls will offer a variety of options to liven up the festival, including "DAIKANYAMA SORYO BEER" from Daikanyama craft beer bar "Bibibi.", doner kebabs from Galata Turkish Kitchen, Taiwanese local food "Taiwan Saki Noodles", taco rice from Grill Diner 301, a jumbo beef tongue skewer about 35 cm long from Roost Kitchen, banh mi from Vietnamese restaurant "URI to Daidokoro", and char siu rice bowls from COKORI.

A joint procession of portable shrines takes place in Dogenzaka and Aoyama; the "Dance of Good Fortune" will be held in the evening.

On the final day, the 20th, the grand festival ceremony will be held from 10am, followed by the "Dogenzaka Mikoshi Joint Procession" at 2pm and the "Aoyama Mikoshi Joint Procession" at 3pm. Mikoshi from each neighborhood association will parade through the streets, immersing Shibuya and Aoyama in the festive atmosphere. Local Kagura dances will be performed throughout the day at the Kagura Hall. The "Fukutoku Dance" will be performed from 7pm, and sweets will be thrown to the attendees.

On the 19th and 20th, a special "mascot character goshuin" (temple stamp) will be available only during the annual festival (offering fee: 1,000 yen), and a stamp rally will also be held with prizes.

Konno Hachimangu Shrine's autumn festival offers a variety of events for all ages, including traditional Shinto rituals and a portable shrine procession, as well as festival stalls, stage performances, and international cuisine. At night, the lanterns are lit, creating a magical atmosphere in the shrine grounds that is different from the daytime.
