Ethical Salon Vol.9 Planetary boundaries, the limits of the Earth.
"Ethical Salon" - a place for interaction to build an ethical society
Source: Peatix
The Japan Ethical Promotion Council hosts "Ethical Salons" to share the current and future state of ethics and to interact with people from various walks of life to work towards creating an ethical society.
The 9th event will be held on Friday, August 2nd, at Minagawa Village, a relaxing spot located on a back street of bustling Omotesando lined with modern buildings, just like the previous event. Minagawa Village is a wooden detached house built in 1957. Over the years, it has been renovated and transformed into a modern place of relaxation. Although it is old, the concept of revitalizing it and making use of it in the present makes it the perfect place to feel close to ethics.
This time, we have invited President and CEO Taketoshi Sato, who founded Wise-Wise Co., Ltd. and has been active in a wide range of fields, focusing on the theme of rich lifestyles in harmony with nature. In January of this year, he established Sato Taketoshi Office Co., Ltd. and is busy every day working to create a "new, prosperous future," to provide some topics of discussion.
--Message from Taketoshi Sato-san--
The deterioration of the global environment caused by human activities is becoming increasingly serious, threatening the survival of the Earth.
Every year, 3.3 million hectares of forest are lost around the world - an area the size of two Tokyo Domes every minute. In addition, unhealthy forests cover about 70% of Japan's land area, and the situation is getting worse every year due to natural disasters and animal damage.
Over the past 50 years, vertebrate populations (mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles, and fish) have declined by an average of 68%, with roughly 40,000 species going extinct each year.*
"Trees are life, and forests are the places where life grows."
In this desperate situation, we would like to think together, based on these examples, about what we can do and how we can create a new, prosperous future.
