Positioning of this content

The upcycling project "roop", which has been promoted since last year by Another Address (Daimaru Matsuzakaya) and the Ministry of the Environment as a Deco Activity Subsidy Project, involves "collecting beloved clothing" and "upcycling by professional designers and fashion students", and has collected over 450 pieces of clothing.

As a culmination of this initiative, on February 15th, we will hold the show contest roopAward2024-2025 at Yoyogi National Gymnasium (within the NEWENERGY event) to decide the grand prize winner among 10 finalists in the professional division and 10 in the student/amateur division. In addition, we are preparing various contents such as booth exhibitions and talk shows with the theme of "fashion and sustainability" to coincide with the event.

What is AnotherADdress?

This is the department store industry's first subscription-based fashion service, launched by Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Stores Co., Ltd. in March 2021.
By paying a monthly fee, users can freely choose their favorite items from over 320 leading designer brands from Japan and abroad and rent them for one month.
The monthly fee includes round-trip shipping costs and cleaning costs, and if you like an item you have rented, you can also purchase it at a discounted price depending on the number of times you have rented it.

About roop
AnotherADdress, a fashion subscription service operated by Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Stores Co., Ltd., has been promoting the clothing circulation upcycling project "roop" since August 2024 as an effort to support consumers in adopting new lifestyles that lead to carbon neutrality.
The goal of this project is to have designers turn the collected clothing into upcycled items, which can then be rented again through "AnotherADdress." We believe that by having many customers wear the newly upcycled clothing, creating a loop, it will change people's behavior and lifestyles.
Starting in August 2024, we have been seeking participation from both the perspective of "(1) sentimental clothing that can no longer be worn" and "(2) designers who will weave the feelings entrusted to these cherished garments into the future."

roop Award Details
The contest consists of two categories: professional and student/amateur. The total number of entries is approximately 95. The first selection for the fashion design contest "roop Award 2024-2025" has been conducted, and 20 finalists (10 each in the professional and student/amateur categories) have been selected. The final judging and award ceremony will be held on Saturday, February 15th.

About NEW ENERGY TOKYO
"NEW ENERGY TOKYO" is a comprehensive festival of fashion, art, and lifestyle creations launched in 2022 by members of the joint fashion exhibition "rooms." Approximately 400 diverse exhibitors, from up-and-coming creators to authentic companies, display and sell their creations. The number of visitors, including industry professionals and general customers, exceeds 10,000, making it an energetic space filled with creative things, events, and people from all over the world.
The final judging and award ceremony for this award will be held at the "NEW ENERGY TOKYO" venue.
