"TEUCHI: A next-generation live battle of handmade udon noodles, where speed, beauty, and showmanship are key to victory."
While previous tournaments focused on "udon itself," this one will shine a spotlight on "people" through live commentary, DJs, and the act of making udon by hand. There will be drama, competition, and udon makers will express themselves through their udon.
Come experience the TEUCHI Udon Battle unfolding on stage with all five senses: sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste!
■ Intention of the project
Promoting the culture of handmade udon noodles. I want many people to know about the amazingness, fun, and diversity of handmade udon noodles.
We have created opportunities for many players, both professional and amateur, to shine.
And I've come to realize this after watching many people who play by hand.
In this Reiwa era, the time when only famous restaurants could make delicious udon is over.
I believe that the information society has made it possible to learn new technologies and improve one's skills independently, provided one has the passion.
Last time, the intense battles between professionals filled the hearts and stomachs of the audience.
However, in this tournament, we will be revamping the entry requirements and even attempting to hold qualifying rounds, in order to once again shine a spotlight on undiscovered artisans who are hidden throughout the country.
In 2025, Marugame Seimen hosted a handmade udon noodle competition in Kagawa Prefecture.
The wave of competition in hand-made dishes grew stronger, interaction became more active, and technology advanced even further.
I hope this tournament will be an opportunity for participants to learn from each other's techniques, improve their skills, and raise the level of not only the players themselves, but also everyone involved in making udon noodles.
We hope that all visitors will enjoy this festival showcasing the dedication of artisans who have poured their hearts and souls into making udon noodles.
▶︎Tournament overview
"TEUCHI" is a live battle that reinterprets handmade udon noodles, where contestants compete with speed, beauty, and heart-stirring techniques.
After a hiatus in 2025, this tournament marks its fourth iteration.
The eligibility requirements are that the participant must not be a udon shop owner, or be a shop owner who has been in business for less than 5 years.
In contrast to previous tournaments, which focused on "udon noodles themselves,"
The event incorporates elements to liven up the venue, such as live commentary, and shines a spotlight on the "craftsmen" through the "hand-made" style of the game.
There is drama, there is struggle, and the udon noodle makers express themselves through their udon.
▶︎Tournament Rules
1. The passion for "making" noodles is reflected in the way the noodles are made.
Make the noodles within 8 minutes.
2. "Telling" - putting those thoughts into words.
Talk about udon for one minute.
3. Everything connects to this one bowl of food.
Prepare 50 servings (30g per serving).
▶︎TEUCHI3 New Rules
East-West proxy war
This year, in addition to the individual competition, there will also be a team competition. Each team will compete based on the total number of votes they receive. Will Kagawa defend its dominance, or will Tokyo seize supremacy? You, the audience at the venue, will be the judges.
▶︎Voting by visitors
① All attendees will cast one vote after all noodle-making is complete.
② The 50 taste testers will cast one additional vote after tasting the food.
■ Selection Method
Voting will be conducted solely by attendees at the venue.
