Masakatsu Shimoda's "Dinosaur Man Exhibition" to be held at Shibuya PARCO; featuring newly filmed footage of Arata Furuta and Aoi Yamada.

Artist Masakatsu Shimoda's exhibition, "Masakatsu Shimoda Dinosaur Man Exhibition - Bones and QR Codes -," will be held from July 25th at the gallery space "Hobonichi Nichiyoubi" on the 8th floor of Shibuya PARCO (Udagawa-cho, Shibuya-ku).

Shimoda is a painter and artist born in 1967 and raised in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture. While traveling, she drew portraits of people she met using colored pencils, traveling through China, Tibet, Nepal, India, and Europe. After returning to Japan, she has been active in a wide range of fields, including picture books, books, stage design, and live painting. In her series of works featuring dinosaurs as a motif, she creates three-dimensional works that "people can wear" by sewing together canvas fabric and stuffing it with cotton.

The exhibition brings together all of Shimoda's dinosaur works, which he has been creating as his life's work since 2011. The exhibition features a collection of works reminiscent of skeletal specimens, including Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Archaeopteryx, Mammoths, and other dinosaurs born from imagination.

One of the highlights of this event is the exclusive photos and videos of actor Arata Furuta and performing artist Aoi Yamada dressed as "dinosaur humans" in the artwork. These images, showing them walking around Shibuya PARCO, riding escalators, and overlooking the city of Shibuya, will be presented as venue-only content.

More than 10 QR codes are placed throughout the venue. When visitors scan them with their smartphones, they can enjoy various content, including photos and videos of Furuta and Aoi. There is also an interactive content using AR technology that makes visitors appear as if they are wearing a dinosaur head.

On the opening day, July 25th, Aoi Yamada will perform a live show wearing Shimoda's dinosaur artwork. There will be three performances at 1pm, 3pm, and 5pm, each lasting approximately 20 minutes. Reservations are not required, but entry may be restricted during peak hours.

During the exhibition, there are plans for live painting and live art creation by Shimoda. In addition to drawing dinosaurs with a white pen on a black wall, a space resembling Shimoda's workspace will be set up in one corner of the venue, where visitors may be able to see the process of creating new dinosaur artwork.

The venue will also be selling original poster books featuring newly taken photos of Furuta and Aoi, as well as related books by Shimoda and dinosaur-themed merchandise.

Opening hours are 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Admission is 800 yen, 500 yen with a Hobonichi app presentation, and free for preschool children. Until August 23rd.
