Five meat shops carefully selected by Kago-san
Grilled Wagyu Beef Yukhoe Donburi (rice bowl) / SHOUTAIAN

It's about a 5-minute walk from the JR Shibuya Station New South Exit. Look for the large barrel placed in front of the store and the brick-style exterior wall on the right side at the top of Sakurazaka Hill.
Restaurant name: Meat Bar SHOUTAIAN Shibuya
Address: 1F, Shin-Nanpeidai Mansion, 24-8 Sakuragaoka-cho, Shibuya-ku
Opened in 2013, this is the first bar-style restaurant developed by Shotaian, a yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) restaurant chain originating in Funabashi, Chiba. It primarily serves meat dishes using Japanese Black Wagyu beef, including steaks, yukhoe donburi (raw beef rice bowl), and their signature "drinkable hamburger." It's a popular spot, often with lines forming outside during lunchtime.

We recommend the "Seared Yukhoe Donburi." Thinly sliced Kuroge Wagyu beef yukke, cooked at a low temperature, is lightly seared to give it a fragrant, smoky flavor. It's not just tender, but it also retains a meaty texture, making it a satisfying dish that truly gives you the feeling of "eating meat."
The sweet and savory soy sauce-based sauce pairs perfectly with the rice, and breaking the egg yolk in the center adds richness and creaminess. The bowl is generously topped with meat, creating a perfect balance with the rice. This is a rice bowl that lets you fully enjoy the deliciousness of Japanese Black Wagyu beef, and you won't be able to stop eating it as you go.
Charcoal-grilled hamburger steak to enjoy with all five senses / Ground meat and rice

It's about a 5-minute walk from the Hachiko Exit of JR Shibuya Station. It's in the building across from the Taiwanese restaurant "Reikyo," just around the corner from the "Dogenzaka Center Building" along Dogenzaka. The entrance to the shop is a wood-grained door on the 3rd floor.
Store name: Minced Meat and Rice Shibuya
Address: 3F Shizu Building, 2-28-1 Dogenzaka, Shibuya-ku
This hamburger specialty restaurant opened in 2021. They grind the meat fresh every morning, grill it right in front of you, and serve it with rice cooked in a traditional iron pot. Located in a renovated apartment, the restaurant has a hidden-away feel, and a veranda where you can enjoy drinks while waiting to be seated. Its defining feature is the live, interactive style, where you can enjoy freshly grilled and cooked food right before your eyes.

The menu offers only one option: "Minced Meat and Rice Set Meal." The hamburgers, grilled one after another on a grill right in front of you, are juicy and bursting with flavor. We recommend starting by placing it on top of rice cooked in a traditional iron pot, to savor the fresh aroma and delicious taste of the meat.
There are many ways to enjoy it, from a refreshing finish with grated daikon radish and homemade ponzu sauce, to variations with condiments such as green chili salt lemon, pickled green chilies in oil, or a combination of sansho pepper and ginger. Finally, it's exceptional to combine it with egg yolk and edible soy sauce to make a hamburger patty over rice.
The sounds and aromas of the meat sizzling, the freshly cooked rice, and the hamburger steak being brought right in front of you—the entire process from preparation to completion is enjoyable, making this a restaurant where dining can be an entertainment experience in itself.
Miyazaki-style Chicken Nanban with sweet and sour sauce and tartar sauce / Uozantei

It's about an 8-minute walk from the Hachiko Exit of JR Shibuya Station. The building is located on Shoto Bunkamura Street, which runs from Bunkamura Street towards Yamate Street, across from the former site of the Tokyu Department Store Main Branch. Look for the Tully's Coffee on the first floor and go up to the second floor, then go through the navy blue curtain to enter the store.
Restaurant name: Uozantei Shibuya Branch
Address: Fontis Building 2F, 2-23-12 Dogenzaka, Shibuya-ku
Nikou Group, which operated restaurants in Miyazaki, opened this restaurant on Miyamasuzaka in 1984. In April 2008, it moved to its current location. It is an izakaya (Japanese pub) that serves Miyazaki's local cuisine and shochu (Japanese distilled spirit), and offers hearty set meals during weekday lunch hours. Among them, the chicken nanban, prepared in the authentic style, has been a long-time favorite.

We recommend the "Chicken Nanban Set Meal." Large pieces of chicken are deep-fried, dipped in sweet and sour sauce, and topped with plenty of tartar sauce, served in the authentic Miyazaki style.
The balance between the light acidity of the sweet and sour sauce and the mellow, rich tartar sauce is exquisite. It's not just about the coating and sauce; you can also fully enjoy the texture and flavor of the chicken itself. It's a different kind of chicken nanban you often see in Tokyo, a taste you'll want to experience again and again. The set meal also comes with barley rice, miso soup, blanched vegetables, and pickles, making it a substantial portion. A smaller size is also available for those who find the regular size too much, allowing you to choose according to your appetite.
Enjoy Kuroge Wagyu beef casually with individual shabu-shabu / Kitchen Nanadaime Matsugoro

It's about a 10-minute walk from the Hachiko Exit of JR Shibuya Station. From near the Dogenzaka-ue Police Box, take Takisaka-michi (Ura-Shibuya-dori), which leads to Kyu-Yamate-dori, and proceed towards Shinsen Station on the Keio INOKASHIRA LINE Line. It's on the first floor of the building across from FamilyMart. It's about a 2-minute walk from Shinsen Station.
Store name: Chui Matsugoro VII
Address: 5-4 Maruyama-cho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Feel A Shibuya 1F
This shabu-shabu restaurant was founded in 2010 and renovated in 2025. Its unique feature is that each customer is provided with their own pot, allowing them to enjoy aged Kuroge Wagyu beef and pork at their own pace. In addition to counter seating, the restaurant also offers table seating and private rooms, accommodating a wide range of customers, from solo diners to groups.

We recommend the "Aged Japanese Black Wagyu Beef Trimmings Set." The trimmings offer the satisfying texture characteristic of Japanese Black Wagyu beef, and you can really taste the rich flavor of the meat. By using two different sauces, ponzu and sesame, you can enjoy it without getting tired of the taste until the very last bite.
In addition to the meat, the vegetable platter is also generous, and when enjoyed with rice, it's a truly satisfying meal. After finishing the shabu-shabu, you can finish off the meal with soy sauce ramen using the broth infused with the flavors of the meat and vegetables.
One of the attractions is being able to enjoy shabu-shabu slowly in a single-serving pot. In addition to meat and vegetables, the set includes ramen noodles to finish off the meal, making it a satisfying and affordable option. Due to its popularity, the limited-quantity sets sometimes sell out during lunchtime.
A juicy lamb set meal with cumin aroma / N9Y Lamb, Cheese and Wine Bar

It's about a 10-minute walk from the Hachiko Exit of JR Shibuya Station. After passing through Center Gai, you'll find it on the first floor along Udagawa Street. Look for the "N9Y" logo. If you're coming from the former Tokyu Department Store side, or Orchard Road, the store isn't visible from the street, so you'll need to go down the stairs at the back of the Seven-Eleven to get there, making it a bit of a hidden gem.
Store name: N9Y Okushibu Branch - Lamb, Cheese and Wine Bar
Address: 1F Okubo Building, 37-11 Udagawa-cho, Shibuya-ku
This lamb specialty restaurant opened in 2019. Using Australian Suffolk Cross lamb, they offer a variety of lamb dishes, including lamb chops grilled over binchotan charcoal. In the evenings, you can enjoy lamb dishes with wine and cheese, while weekday lunches feature lamb set meals, hamburgers, curry, and more.

I recommend the "Cumin-Grilled Lamb." The meat is surprisingly tender, and a juicy, flavorful taste spreads in your mouth with every bite. While you can taste the characteristic aroma of lamb, it's not overpowering; rather, it's an appetizing accent that whets the appetite.
The generous amount of cumin complements the lamb perfectly, resulting in a spicy and easy-to-eat dish. The addition of a spicy soy sauce-based sauce creates a robust and lingering flavor reminiscent of Mongolian barbecue.
Packed with vegetables like onions and zucchini, this dish, served with flavorful meat, is perfect with brown rice. It's a specialty dish that even those who don't usually eat lamb should try.
We introduced five restaurants where you can enjoy beef, pork, chicken, and lamb in a variety of styles, not just yakiniku (Japanese BBQ), but also rice bowls, hamburgers, chicken nanban, shabu-shabu, and spiced dishes. What did you think?
When you look at meat dishes in Shibuya, you'll find that not only are there high-priced restaurants near the station, but there are also casual, everyday eateries, offering a wide range of choices to suit your budget. The five restaurants introduced here all showcased various techniques to bring out the deliciousness of the meat, such as searing it to a fragrant crisp, grilling it right in front of you, combining it with sweet and sour sauces and spices, and enjoying it right down to the final bite of the hot pot.
Whether you're craving a hearty meat meal or want to try something different, Shibuya offers endless options. If you find a restaurant that catches your eye, be sure to visit with an empty stomach. You might just discover a new side to Shibuya's meat scene that you've never seen before.
