Inspire Talks is a series of casual talk events introducing cutting-edge research and design activities. The 28th installment will feature DLX's design project, which is working to protect coral reefs!
Coral bleaching is a global problem, and long-term conservation requires global cooperation. Since 2021, DLX Design Lab has been working with domestic and international partners on a design project called Coral Rescue, which allows the general public to participate in coral reef conservation efforts and contribute to maintaining sustainable marine biodiversity. This will be the first time that the project has been open to the public.

The event will feature project lead Tomomi Souda (designer, DLX Design Lab), project partner Natasha A. Lewinski (associate professor, Virginia Commonwealth University), an oceanographer from Virginia Commonwealth University in the US, and high school teachers from Japan and the US who are actually incorporating the pilot initiative as part of their classes. These speakers will hold talks and panel discussions about the concept of Coral Rescue, its implementation status, and the possibilities and challenges that have emerged from it for citizen-participation in environmental conservation activities.
