An event themed around Showa-era popular songs, "Kayokyoku Kissaten" (Popular Song Cafe), will be held on April 24th at "Hobonichi Sunday," a gallery space on the 8th floor of Shibuya PARCO. The event is organized by Hobonichi Co., Ltd.
For a limited time, the venue will be transformed into a "coffee shop," offering a space where you can enjoy Showa-era popular songs in high quality and at high volume. The sound system was created in cooperation with an audio select shop in Ginza, Tokyo, and uses a combination of vintage and modern speakers to deliver the charm of the music in a three-dimensional way. Visitors can relax and immerse themselves in the music while enjoying Showa-era-inspired menu items such as coffee, tea, lemon squash, and baked donuts.

In the evenings, the talk event "My Five Songs" will be held multiple times. Guests will choose five songs from the Showa era that are meaningful to them and introduce them while sharing anecdotes. The lineup of guests includes Ningen Yokochō, Lily Franky (interviewer: Shigesato Itoi), music critic Mino, Yumemi Nem, and Mari Watanabe, among others.
Recently, Showa-era pop songs have gained popularity among Generation Z through TikTok and YouTube, who find them "emotional" and "fresh." This event, which attempts to rediscover the charm of Showa-era pop songs with "the best sound," is likely to be enjoyable for all generations.
The exhibition runs until May 17th.
