"Shibuya Awa Odori 2026" will be held on October 3rd in the area around Shibuya Station, including Shibuya Sakura Stage, Shibuya Chuo-gai, and SHIBUYA STREAM.
The event is organized by the Shibuya Awa Odori Executive Committee and the Shibuya Station Area Management Association. With the statement, "Let's make this city even more exciting," the event combines Awa Odori, a traditional dance from Tokushima, with the city and culture of Shibuya.
Following last year's success, this year's event will expand from the Sakuragaoka area to include Shibuya Chuo-gai. Performance venues will be set up in a total of five locations: Sakuragaoka Sakura-zaka, Sakuragaoka Plaza on the 2nd floor and BLOOM GATE on the 3rd floor of Shibuya Sakura Stage, Shibuya Chuo-gai north of Shibuya Fukuras, and the National Route 246 deck/ SHIBUYA STREAM. Visitors can enjoy Awa Odori at each venue while strolling around the Shibuya Station area.

The performers include the "Awa Odori Promotion Association Select Team" from Tokushima, the birthplace of Awa Odori, as well as the "Koenji Association Joint Team," the "Minami Koshigaya Awa Odori Promotion Association Joint Team," and the "Kanagawa Yamato Awa Odori Promotion Association Yamato Team." Dancers representing their respective regions will gather from Tokushima, Koenji, Minami Koshigaya, and Kanagawa Yamato.
Several dance groups based in Shibuya will also participate. In addition to "Tenseiren," formed in Shibuya in 2017, and "Tokyo Ebisu Ren," established in 1998, "Shibuya Sakura Ren," which was formed in Sakuragaoka-cho as a result of this event, will be making its debut. In addition to performances by each group, there will also be Awa Odori classes where visitors can try dancing.
The Shibuya Awa Odori festival, which originated in Sakuragaoka-cho, aims to incorporate traditional regional culture into the urban space of Shibuya, which is undergoing redevelopment, and to foster exchange between Tokushima and Shibuya.
The event will be held from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Admission is free and no reservation is required.
