What is true richness in life?
In today's world, where population decline, a declining birthrate and an aging population, and global political instability are accelerating, a society that relies on endless economic growth is reaching its limits. Rather than a lifestyle based on mass production and consumption, we need to think about the shape of an economy that truly serves the people.
In August 2025, SHIBUYA QWS launched the SHIBUYA Co-Creation Lab for Living Innovation (commonly known as Linn SHIBUYA), a co-creation project that brings together companies, universities, and local governments across sectors to consider the future of increasingly complex lifestyles and housing, and to create projects that will envision and implement new ways of living.
Linn SHIBUYA is a co-creation research and practice institute that explores the question "What is wealth?" through collaboration with people, companies, universities, and local governments, and seeks to discover new ways of living and the joy of living. It transcends organizational divisions and economic boundaries, and depicts new wealth from multifaceted and emotional perspectives, such as connections with nature, spiritual richness, the warmth of the community, and deep connections with people.
This event will feature an open talk session on the theme of "The future of lifestyles and housing stemming from industry-government-academia collaboration," featuring Ikuhide Nakayama, the theme owner for the first phase of the Linn Co-Creation Program and working on "Practicing design by government organizations," Kota Minamisawa, who is involved in the research, development, and social implementation of embodied media that shares, creates, and expands physical experiences, Yoshito Ando, who is in charge of new business development at Nissan, and Yukinobu Yokota, an expert in innovation creation and new business development.
The event will be divided into two parts: a public session in the first half and a workshop for participants only in the second half. In the public session, there will be an overview of the project and a themed talk session to discuss future possibilities for living. In the second half, there will be a workshop for participants of the Linn Co-Creatin Program (limited to program participants; general participants are welcome to observe).
