Artistic Networking Event for Business People #5

The theme is "Business x Art x Self-Transformation"

Source: Peatix

When sensibility and logic intersect, new value is born.
We will be holding an "artistic" networking event for business people.

The theme this time is "Business x Art x Self-Transformation."
In the memorable first episode, we will be welcoming art education professional Tomonori Sato, who received rave reviews for his "professional," "easy to understand," and "interesting" explanations of art appreciation, as our guest. He will be giving a lecture on art appreciation that will make you "want to tell someone about it tomorrow," focusing on Marcel Duchamp, who is said to be the starting point of modern art!

We will also delve into the topic from the perspective of human resources and human resource development through cross-talk, and we hope that the struggles and transitions of artists who have left their mark on art history will provide an opportunity for you to gain new insights into your own personalities, such as self-awareness, ways of working and living, growth, and cross-border learning.

Enjoy a unique social gathering that you won't experience in your everyday life!

■ Contents and guest navigators
【What kind of event is it?】
Point 1: With artists and experts as guests, you can gain new insights and hints.
Point 2: Communication between the "right brain" and "left brain" creates interactions unlike anything you've experienced before.
Point 3: Meet colleagues who share your values and can co-create with you.

【This time's point!】
We invite art education experts to act as guides and conduct "interactive appreciation." Through communication that is not possible in everyday life, we will create an exchange of new values.

Taking Marcel Duchamp, the starting point of modern art and generally considered to be the epitome of "difficult art," as his subject, we will demystify his works in an easy-to-understand way and hold an appreciation lecture that will have you "wanting to talk about them to someone tomorrow!"

In addition to gaining knowledge about art appreciation, you can gain new insights into self-awareness, ways of working and living, growth, and cross-border learning by learning about the struggles and transitions of artists who have left their mark on art history.

[Navigator Profile]

Tomonori Sato

Graduated from the Master's Program in Oil Painting at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts. As the head of the Oil Painting Department at Shonan Art College, he has been teaching painting for many years. In the past 10 years alone, he has produced over 100 students who have passed the entrance exam for the Oil Painting Department at Tokyo University of the Arts.
In the chaotic world of art, where discussions tend to focus on "sense, sensibility, and talent," he continues to advocate a perspective backed by a deep knowledge of painting history, incorporating his own analytical method using typology. His approach places as much importance on "viewing = knowing" as on "drawing," and seeks to find universality in this.

■ Reviews from participants
・Human resources for a major food manufacturer

I work in human resources at a company, where I am in charge of capacity development and organizational development, and I feel the limitations of conventional business common sense and ways of thinking.
For example, methods based on data and logic, such as "first show the arguments and evidence" or "strategies backed by logic lead to success," are ultimately the way things have been done up until now, and as the business environment becomes increasingly uncertain and anyone can now make full use of AI, these methods are beginning to malfunction in terms of originality.
I believe that "delusion," "perceptual sense," and "intuition" are essential to regaining one's own unique way of thinking, and I feel that the essential creative qualities of art and the process of honing one's "intuition" are what make us human.
This time, I experienced the task of sewing photographs with thread, and by "feeling and thinking with my hands," that is, by moving my hands and body, I was able to experience input from various sensory organs, which activated various parts of my brain.
There were many insights gained from the conversations between participants.
I would like to continue gaining experience in drawing work and other areas.

・Human Resources Producer

I participated in this art event twice. By carefully learning about the artists' backgrounds and the thoughts behind their works, I was given the opportunity to become aware of my own "obvious" assumptions and unconscious assumptions.
What particularly impressed me was the discrepancy between the image I had of myself and the image others had of me. This realization became the gateway to connecting with the depths of myself through art.
As someone involved in human resource development, this experience made me reconsider the "power of the environment." Art can be the key to accessing the depths of the human heart that words cannot. Through this experience, I was able to "update my own understanding" and I believe it will also help with team building.
