To commemorate the full-scale opening of the commercial facility "Shibuya Sakura Stage," a unique photo exhibition utilizing AR, "Photo Exhibition Without Photos," began on July 25, 2024 in the event space on the third floor of SHIBUYA Tower.

The event space, located on the same floor as the JR Shinminami ticket gate, will be used for limited-time exhibitions, pop-up stores, and other events that will create excitement. The project to commemorate the full-scale opening will allow visitors to enjoy a fantastical experience in which the old streetscapes from Sakuragaoka to Shibuya and Harajuku are brought to life right before their eyes using AR technology.

Although it is called a photography exhibition, what is on display at the venue is "letters."

At first glance, the space appears empty, but if you scan the QR code in the venue with your smartphone, activate the AR function, and point your smartphone at the framed text on the wall, photos of Shibuya's past will appear. The idea is to be able to appreciate the historical story of Shibuya through AR photos, and see what the area of Sakuragaokacho, Shibuya, where Shibuya Sakura Stage is located, used to look like.

When you hold your smartphone over the text, images of old Shibuya appear.

From the words written inside the frame, such as "Heat from the streets," "Walking around the neighborhood," "People of the past," "The evolving city," and "The former scramble crossing," what kind of photo of Shibuya will emerge, from where and when?

Furthermore, the mirrors installed in the exhibition space contain messages that evoke the image of Shibuya in the future. Please come to the venue, hold your smartphone over the mirrors, and experience the past, present, and future of Shibuya.
