The 12th Shibuya Zunchaka!, a community-participatory music festival set in the streets of Shibuya, will be held on June 7th at various locations around Shibuya Station, including Shibuya Center Street, Miyashita Park, and Shibuya Sakura Stage.
Launched in 2015, this music festival, based on the concept of "a one-day musical liberation zone," has been planned and operated primarily by citizen volunteers. Utilizing public spaces in Shibuya, which is undergoing redevelopment, it has become established as an initiative to connect people and the city through music. It also received the Good Design Award in 2024.
This year, the event will expand to include the Miyamasuzaka area, adding a new location in front of Bic Camera at the bottom of Miyamasuzaka. "Street stages" will be set up in 11 locations, including the Hachiko Square, the underground plaza at Shibuya Station Exit B1, Miyashita Park, Cat Street (the former Shibuya River Promenade), and Shibuya Sakura Stage.
The event will feature 94 artists selected through an open call for submissions. Volunteer staff, who work throughout the year, have chosen a diverse group of artists based on their own preferences, and these artists will perform live in open public spaces such as street corners, plazas, and intersections. There will be no main stage; the event is designed so that people can encounter music while wandering around the entire Shibuya area.

In addition to live performances, the venue will offer numerous participatory activities that can be enjoyed even by those unfamiliar with music. At Miyashita Park, an exhibition titled "Lyrics Come to Life! A Power Spot of Words" will be held, featuring memorable lyrics that will inspire visitors. A "sticker rally" will take participants through 11 stages, allowing them to enjoy exploring the town while searching for the official character "Chaby" and the new character "Urucha".

In addition, there will be an interactive exercise session called "Experiential! Everyone Enjoy! Shibuya Immersive" (starting at 4:45 PM) that combines video and music. At the end of the event (starting at 5:00 PM), the annual "Finale! Everyone Gather!!" will be held at the Miyashita Park lawn area, where all attendees will play instruments they have brought, sing, and dance together in a lively and unified finale.
This event is one of Shibuya Ward's civic cultural events, embodying the slogan "A city that transforms differences into strengths," where diversity and free expression intersect. Regardless of musical experience, anyone can play, listen, dance, and participate in their own style in this "city-wide music festival," once again filling the streets of Shibuya with sound this year.
11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The event will proceed in light rain, but will be canceled in case of severe weather.
