The Konno Hachiman Shrine Annual Festival, which prays for bountiful harvests and good health, will be held from Thursday, September 11th to Sunday, September 14th, 2025, at Konno Hachiman Shrine, the shrine beloved as the guardian deity of Shibuya.
During the annual festival, the grounds are divided into four areas: "Special Festival Prayer" (Shrine), "Kagura Stage" (Kagura Hall), "Children's Festival" (Park Space), and "Future Festival" (Parking Space), and a variety of events are held, including live dedication performances, traditional performing arts, food stalls, and festivals.
A scene from a past BEGIN dedication live performance
On the first day, the 11th, the three-piece band BEGIN from Ishigaki Island will perform their traditional dedication live show on the Kagura stage. BEGIN, who describe Shibuya as "their second home," have become established as representatives of Shibuya, including performing their original song "Shibuya Hyakunen Soodori" at the Shibuya Bon Odori Festival.

A variety of performances are scheduled for the Kagura stage on the 13th, including the classical East Indian dance Odissi (from 11am), a Tai Chi demonstration (from 12pm), a Shibuya folktale performance (from 3pm), Kagoshima Ohara Bushi (from 4pm), and pantomime (from 7pm). There will also be pony riding experiences and interaction events (from 2pm and 3pm) within the shrine grounds.
"Children's Fair" to be held for two days to be enjoyed by parents and children
Also on the 13th and 14th, there will be a "Children's Festival." It will feature a variety of activities for everyone to enjoy, including shooting gallery, goldfish scooping, yo-yo fishing, cotton candy, portrait drawing, interacting with local mascots, and rickshaw rides. Furthermore, the "Future Festival (Food Court)" set up in the parking lot will feature a wide variety of international food trucks offering French and African cuisine, banh mi, steak, candy apples, beer, and more (open from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM on the 13th and 14th). Food will also add to the excitement of the festival.
Food trucks will be set up, allowing you to enjoy a full-fledged food court experience
On the final day, the 14th, 14 mikoshi (portable shrines) from each neighborhood association in Shibuya will gather in front of SHIBUYA109 for the "Dogenzaka Mikoshi Rengo Togyo" (2pm). The festival reaches its climax with spirited shouts echoing in front of Shibuya Station. Also, "Sato Kagura Dedication" (Sagami-ryu Sato Kagura Hagiwara Shachu) will be performed throughout the day at the Kagura Hall, and in the evening, the "Fukutoku Dance" will be dedicated in the temple grounds.
Shibuya in autumn is a place where you can enjoy music, traditional performing arts, and even festival food. Why not visit and get into the festival spirit?
