Get a feel for a symbiotic society through play, food, and interaction!
2026-01-14
The All Together Festival (ATF), an experiential event aimed at realizing a symbiotic society, will be held at SHIBUYA STREAM Hall on January 18, 2026.
According to the Immigration Services Agency, the number of foreign residents continues to increase, reaching a record high of 3,956,619 as of the end of June 2025. The government regards coexistence with the increasing number of foreigners as an issue for society as a whole, and in 2022, a meeting of relevant cabinet ministers decided on a "Roadmap for Realizing a Cohesive Society" and "Comprehensive Response Measures." In response to this, the Ministry of Justice has designated January of each year as "Life in Harmony Promotion Month" starting in 2024, aiming to promote understanding of the significance of living together regardless of nationality.
This year marks the third promotion month, and the event will be held for the first time in Shibuya. This year's theme is "A (play), T (eat), F (interact)," and the event is designed to allow people to experience both Japanese and foreign cultures and feel closer to a symbiotic society through "play, food, and interaction."
The opening will feature appearances by actress and singer Sumire, comedy duo Bambino, and the Immigration Services Agency's mascot, "Imigu." A participatory stage performance will be held featuring traditional dances from around the world, inspired by Bambino's signature "Danzon" gag. A live broadcast with the Regional Immigration Services Bureau and a singing performance by Sumire are also planned.
In the outdoor area, professional rugby teams Toshiba Brave Lupus Tokyo, Ricoh Black Rams Tokyo, and Sankyu Phoenix Tokyo will participate in the "Rugby Players and One Team Mochi Pounding Tournament!" Former Japan national team player Hitoshi Ohno will also be making an appearance, and 100 servings of freshly pounded mochi will be provided free of charge.
Food trucks will be gathering at Jin Wang Bridge Square, offering dishes from around the world, including Vietnam, Singapore, Nepal, the UK, and Peru. A roasted sweet potato truck will also be appearing from Japan, making it an event that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
The experience program will include a "Five Senses Workshop" where war photographer Hiroshi Aoki will give you a journalist experience, and Rumiko Harmony will give you a tote bag making experience. At Inaribashi Square, there will also be basketball, rugby, and soccer experiences taught by professional sports teams, expanding opportunities for multicultural exchange.
Exhibition booths will be set up at the venue by government agencies, embassies, local governments, companies, etc., to introduce efforts towards a society where people from other countries can coexist in harmony, deepening participants' understanding.
General participation is free and no prior registration is required.
