Shibuya Web3 University -Season 2- 9th Real Event (40th event overall)
"Web3 x End-of-Life Planning" — Now is the time to redesign the infrastructure for death.
*This event is in-person only (no online streaming)
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Have you ever thought about your own death?
"It's too early," "I don't want to think about it"—
That feeling is probably natural.
But now, Japan's social infrastructure surrounding death is quietly, but surely, beginning to unravel.
• The problem of opaque funeral costs and unscrupulous funeral homes.
Unheard graves, increasing number of people closing down their family graves.
- The expansion of a disconnected society and the disappearance of individual records
- Anxiety among the elderly who feel they "cannot die in peace."
This is not a "problem of the elderly."
This is a reality that everyone will inevitably face someday.
And now, technology is poised to open up new possibilities.
Digitalization of graves, perpetuation of records using blockchain,
The legacy of "living evidence" through Web3.
But the question is simple.
Can technology truly solve the problem of death?
What are the things that need to be solved, and yet cannot be solved?
Who will redesign this "infrastructure of death"?

■ About this event
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
This event is not a technology study group.
A practitioner who has continuously faced the "scene of death" as the fifth generation of the funeral business,
A business executive is applying blockchain and Web3 to a new field called "grave tech,"
They will discuss the realities they see from their respective locations and the current state of their challenges.
And on that day, it won't end with just passively "listening."
Designed for real-time participation using Mentimeter,
We will create an environment where everyone in the venue can consider it as their own personal matter.
"Are you leaving your own death to someone else?"
I hope today will be the starting point for confronting that question.
